    Office of Health Economics
    London - United Kingdom
    S: Dependent on experience

The Office of Health Economics (www.ohe.org) wishes to recruit well-qualified, highly motivated and energetic junior economists, with particular strengths in health economics, including the economics of health technology assessment, health care systems and/or the life sciences industry.

The Office of Health Economics is particularly interested in strengthening the areas of:
    • Health econometrics and real-world evidence
    • Industrial Organisation (examples on themes)
    • Patient Reported Outcomes
    • Stated Preference techniques such as Discrete Choice Experiments
    • Impact evaluation of health care and health policy interventions in High, Low, and Middle In-come countries

The economists will contribute to all three of the OHE's core activities:
    • peer-reviewed research
    • consultancy
    • advising the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)

The OHE is a London-based, not for profit, economic research and consultancy organisation, founded in 1962. Our scope is international and our client portfolio spans all three sectors: pub-lic, private and charitable.

OHE's work covers a broad range of analyses into the economics and policy of four related are-as:
    • measuring and valuing outcomes – for example, valuing health using stated preference techniques such as discrete choice experiments
    • judging value for money and improving decision making – for example, assessing the value of health care through the use of cost-effectiveness thresholds
    • incentivising quality – for example, assessing how incentives, payments and reimbursement mechanisms can influence quality, behaviours and performance
    • economics of innovation – for example, understanding how new models of innovation can help streamline development, reduce costs and speed patient benefit

The main purpose of the economist role is to undertake and present analyses on topics in one or more of our areas of specialism in all three core OHE activities, i.e. research, consultancy, and advice to the ABPI. This involves working with OHE colleagues, academic collaborators, the ABPI and other clients, and with external stakeholders.

    Candidates must have:
    • a good first degree, majoring in economics, statistics or operations research, or
    • a postgraduate qualification in economics or health economics;
    • ability to do research, write and present clearly argued analyses in fluent English within tight deadlines.
